If you recall from this post I was introduced to OLIA hair colour by Garnier but wasn’t sure which colour to get. The kind people of Garnier offered to have their hair expert Nina Farrauto colour my hair and she was excited that I wanted to do the Dark Violet since she hadn’t used that colour yet!
As I mentioned before this hair colour doesn’t have the usual hair dye smell. It’s a pleasant kind of floral smell that doesn’t burn your eyes as it’s applied.
Nina let me know that the dark violet I was choosing is still red based so as with all red hair dye it doesn’t last as long as other colours. She also mentioned that colour will hold better on hair that has not been coloured before as opposed to hair that still has colour in it which is why I’m always ruining my towels! She also used two boxes on me since I actually have quite a bit of hair. When it comes to colouring your hair at home it’s better to be safe than sorry so unless you have super short hair pick up two boxes just in case!
I took this picture with my phone of Nina styling my hair.
She used some Garnier products, a hair dryer and a round brush and told me she never had so much fun curling hair without a curling iron since my hair did exactly what she wanted it to so easily (yay for naturally curly hair!)
And here is the final result:
And the gorgeous Nina posing with me – she is seriously so fun and nice to work with!
Here is a close up of what the colour looks like in the sun light. I love it! It took me a while to get used to how dark it was but I think it really suits me and it’s not TOO dark with the hint of violet which may fade to red afterwards anyway.
Because my hair is darker I decided that I should do my makeup a little darker for everyday too so I’ve been sporting darker lips and darker eye shadow.
If you’re looking to colour your hair anytime soon I’d highly recommend the Garnier Olia line if you’d rather dye your hair at home than in the salon. My hair feels smooth and shiny and most importantly the colour is really rich.
