I have A LOT of lipsticks but I don’t wear very many (is anyone else guilty of that?). I do like to experiment with colours but I find on most days it’s just easiest to grab the same neutral lipstick or gloss and be out the door. On my vacation in Florida I decided to test drive the new L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick and wear a different one everyday.
My initial thought was to photograph myself wearing each colour as proof – but – since I’m self consious about my skin a close up shot of my lips was quickly nixed! So you’ll just have to believe me when I say I tried every single one of these colours out. And I loved all of them but one – and not for any fault of its own, the colour just didn’t suit me.
from left to right:
Rose Taffeta // Velvet Fushia // Sunset Angora // Blushing Sequin //
Cherry Tulle //Pink Cashmere // Violet Chiffon
The texture of this lipstick is what I love most. It’s sheer but definitely gives off a good amount of colour (I hate when I try on a sheer formula and my lips look the same!) and it goes on so smoothly.
Here are swatches on my hand in the same order as above (go top left to right then bottom left to right)
My favorite of the bunch were Cherry Tulle and Violet Chiffon. They were nice and vibrant on their own without being too overpowering. I’m all for a bold lipstick but I also think that you need to have pretty flawless skin to pull off the bold lip look – and so I’ve been shying away from bolder colours. The only colour that looked terrible on me was Sunset Angora. I have yet to find a coral/orange based colour that looks good on me.
