I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my skin lately about how even and “glowy” it’s been – though as I currently write this post I’ve got some breakouts making their way to my skin’s surface. 😛
Besides this minor set back, I thought I would share my skin care “secrets” for getting radiant and even skin.
Start with your skin care. Of course this is obvious – we all know flawless looking skin starts with great skin care, and any makeup used to enhance your beauty will look better on top of smooth skin.
I’m still loving my Clarisonic brush which I’ve been using morning and night. It’s the key to getting really clean skin and allowing your products to penetrate deep into the layers of your dermis.
It’s also important to use a good cleanser. I’ve been partial to Vichy ProEven products lately.
The cleanser leaves your skin feeling “squeaky” clean but without the tight dry feeling that can usually accompany it. I’ve been using the night and day spot correctors along with the cleanser, and while I can’t say if they’re helping to reduce dark spots or not, I do feel that overall my skin tone is more even with the use of all 3 products.
It’s important to not forget about the eyes! Most of your regular skincare products shouldn’t be used around the eye area since the skin around the eyes is more delicate and much thinner.
I am absolutely LOVING the Vasanti Eye Wonder Triple Action Eye Treatment. It’s got a lightweight butter texture that just melts into your skin. It’s great for dark circles, puffiness and reducing fine lines. I use this both day and night and always feel like my eyes area looks brighter and more radiant.
If you have an overall uneven complexion like I do, including some redness, you’ll want to reach for a primer that helps make your skin look more even and glowy.
Make Up For Ever has these new “Step 1 Skin Equalizer” primers that come in 12 different shades to suit any of your needs. I’ve been reaching for the radiant primer each day – it just seems to make my complexion look brighter and less dull.
As the warm weather hits I like to also use a primer to combat my shiny t-zone but one that also doesn’t make me look too matte.
My favourite is still Dermalogica’s SkinPerfect primer. With an SPF of 30, it’s perfect for sunnier days and it leaves your skin with a beautiful radiant finish. If you don’t need much coverage then you can skip the foundation since this primer is tinted. If you’re like me and want more coverage, then go ahead with your normal beauty routine.
I also always like to add a bit of a “sun kissed” glow and some highlighter on the cheeks to help emphasize radiant skin.
The Pro Sculpting Duo from Make Up For Ever is fool proof – the bronzer is very subtle and easily blendable so you can contour slightly without going overboard; and the highlighter is perfect for making those cheek bones stand out and for finishing off the radiant look.
{pre-breakout!}
Hopefully I’ve given you a few great tips for achieving radiant and even skin! Do you have any tips or tricks you’d like to share with me?
