Well at least I was told that I would end up loving sewing after attending the “Beauty Bloggers Love Sewing” event at The Sewing Studio located in Toronto!
I was excited but also nervous to attend the event. You may or may not know but I’m not very domestic. I can’t even sew on a button – husband does that for me! And my mom always hemmed my pants as it was faster for her to do it rather than teach me how. And my mother in law is pretty handy on the sewing machine too so she has altered numerous items for me. Being surround by all these people who had basic to average sewing skills I guess you can say they enabled my inability to sew hahahaha!
Well, it was finally time to see what I was made of. It wasn’t the FIRST time I touched a sewing machine – don’t be ridiculous! I took shop and home economic courses in grade 7 :P. I remember fondly that I made an elephant shaped pillow and drawsting bag. I even painted the logo of my favorite basketball team on it (admitedly it was my dad that sketched out the logo for me – why the heck didn’t I get any of these creative genes?!?).
I was joined by fellow beauty bloggers Ella Pretty, Anjali of Rock That Look and Arianne of Glitter Geek. I was so happy to learn that none of us had any sewing skills to brag of although I suspect Ella Pretty was holding herself back so as to not make the rest of us feel bad
Becky was our instructor and she was so patient with us. It’s lucky that none of in the group have “potty mouths” as there were a lot of “Oh no’s” and “Oh crap’s” going on.
I’m sad that I don’t live near you. If I did I will definitely join you. Great job on the brush roll.
Great job with the brush roll!! It sounds like you had lots of fun! I had a pretty good time with my class last summer.
Wow – you got some really good pictures of the studio – really captured how chic it is inside – definitely not our school version of sewing class!
I had so much fun at the event…I honestly thought sewing on a machine was complicated because I was so bad at it in middle school…guess my coordination skills have gotten better over time (cough cough – not mentioning how MUCH time has elapsed)
Was so good seeing you again Elaine
So cool!! But I hate sewing Elaine. I skipped almost every class in Grade 10!
I did some sewing yesterday with TSS. My post should be up this weekend. We made a business card holder that’s really nice but I do like this brush roll you made. Very cute and useful!
