{How To Make Eyes Pop}
Makeup can be powerful. It can cheer you up, give you confidence, or just be a fun thing to play with. There are days that I don’t wear any makeup and other days when I go all out and use everything in my makeup bag! We’ve all got a “signature look” – something that we’re comfortable doing and feel good about. For me, I like to play up my eyes. But how do you make your eyes pop without putting too much effort into your look? In previous reviews, I’ve written about eyeliners and eyeshadows that can do just that. I’ve even written about how to do your makeup in just 5 minutes. The quickest way that I’ve found to make eyes pop is by using a great mascara.
When I first started writing for this blog, I wrote about Lancôme’s Hypnôse mascara collection. Each one was great for showcasing my lashes in a different way. I love volume, so I tend to focus on mascaras that can achieve that full-bodied look. Others may prefer length and lash separation. This collection has a mascara for whatever look you’re going for.
Whenever I want to make my eyes the focus of my makeup, I sometimes apply eye shadow, but ALWAYS use an eyelash curler. When you use a curler, your lashes will stand out more and your eyes will therefore stand out, too. After applying the curler to my lashes for 10 seconds, I then put on mascara. Since I prefer volume over length, I naturally gravitate towards mascaras that advertise as being ‘voluminous’. My current mascara is Maybelline’s Push Up Drama mascara. It holds the curl nicely and gives some dramatic colour to my (already dark) lashes. It can flake by the end of the day, but for everyday use, it’s pretty good.
One of my absolute favourites is Benefit’s They’re Real. I keep the mini version in my travel bag and it’s a fantastic mascara for both volume and length.
There are a lot of mascaras out there, so hopefully you’ve found one that works for you. We’re supposed to change our mascara every 2 months, so there’s always a chance to try something new. If you have a favourite, put it in the comments below – I’m always up for trying other kinds!
The Lancome Hypnose is a favourite of mine too! I’ve had pretty good luck with Lancome mascaras in general.
I am still in search of the perfect mascara to make my eyes POP but right now its Cargo Mascara!

I have Push Up Drama sitting here waiting for me to try it. I love They’re Real too, but now Benefit’s RollerLash has edged it out!
Definitely agree about mascara! Especially because as a glasses wearer my eyes seem to hide without it.
Great tips! I always feel “naked” if I don’t wear mascara – sometimes it is the ONLY thing I put on my face. I have an unopened tube of the Maybelline Push Up Drama I am waiting to try!
I really want to try that Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara, but right now I’m using an Essence one and I have been loving it!

Oh good to hear!
I love trying new mascaras, and finding ways to make my eyes look natural, but awesome. I recently started using the CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume, and it’s changed my life!
Oooh I’ll have to try that one out!
Loved the tips, wearing mascara is my number 1 priority even on days that I don’t really feel like wearing makeup, especially because if applied properly your eyes will stand out like crazy!
