April is earth month and Aveda Canada is celebrating 10 years of giving back with WaterAid. Aveda and WaterAid have been partners for the last decade committing to the global need for clean water. Aveda has contributed over $38 million to WaterAid products and Aveda Canada has raised over $3.5 million through Earth Month initiatives alone!
{Aveda and WaterAid for Earth Month}
If you’re interested in supporting Aveda and WaterAid, the “Light The Way Candle” will be available this month with all proceeds going directly to WaterAid. Aveda Canada will also be launching a 3-year initiative called the Madagascar Project to provide clean water to the Sabotsy Anjiro and Belavabary regions. Proceeds raised during the 3 years will:
- provide clean water to approximately 19,000 people
- Apply WaterAid’s approach of combining water, sanitation and hygiene education
- Ensure the construction of drinking water supply systems
- Achieve 100% water access in Sabotsy Anjiro and Belavabary (currently, there is only 51% access in Sabotsy Anjiro and 0% access in Belavabary).
As a consumer we can participate in the Aveda and WaterAid initiatives too!
- On April 25th you can join the Walk For Water event. At 9am in 14 cities across Canada the Aveda Canada team will be walking a 6km distance symbolic of the average journey millions of people in Madagascar take daily in order to collect water.
- Also on April 25th you can make an Appointment for Clean Water. Make an appointment at a participating Aveda-partner salons all across Canada and Aveda Canada will donate all regular service fees from the day to WaterAid. On top of that, there will also be a special $5 service menu (bang trims, waterless hair styles and hand massages).
- As mentioned above you can purchase the “Light This Way Candle” ($16) and other items from the Earth Month collection.
