A while back I sent Sohnee and Alysia on assignment to check out the newly opened Kiehl’s store in downtown Toronto. Check out their experience at the Kiehl’s Eaton Centre Grand Opening event.

Sohnee:
Kiehl’s opened a new location at the Cadillac Fairview Eaton Centre and so far, it’s been a huge hit! I was invited to see their store opening with Alysia and get a skin consultation. I’ve heard of the brand, but never tried any of their products, so it was all new to me.
My skin consultation involved having my oil level measured on the spot, using two litmus-like test strips on my cheek and forehead. I then selected my major concerns (e.g. fine lines/wrinkles, acne, dark spots, dryness, etc) and a prescription was written up for me. With Kiehl’s starting out as a pharmacy in 1851, they seem to have made formulations specific for every need, with every iteration addressed. I have normal to oily skin and want to keep my dark spots at bay. With that in mind, I was recommended to try their Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50 sunscreen. When you protect your skin from UV damage, you prevent dark spots from developing. This sunscreen is lightweight and not greasy, but the best part for POCs like me – there’s no white cast! I usually look like Casper when I put on sunblock, but not with this formula! I’m wearing it everyday and love that I can see my true skin colour through the protection.
Alysia:
While Kiehl’s is a staple in my household because it’s my husband’s preferred skincare line, I have used several of their products in the past – one of them being a favorite of mine – Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment. It really adds moisture to a rather dry delicate area. Now going to the grand opening allowed me to get reintroduced to their products and what it can do for me.
One of the skin consultants first spoke to my husband but since he knew so much about the men’s products, she skipped over to me and Sohnee. As Sohnee described the consultation above, I was diagnosed with normal skin and the concerns I selected were restore moisture, diminish lines and wrinkles (to which she laughed at me because I have none), reduce dark spots/discoloration, lift & firm, diminish acne and improve skin tone. The skin consultant prepared My Kiehl’s Skin Care Program and provided samples for me to try out and within two days, I began to see that my skin brightened up and was very smooth. I have since gone back and purchased a few items because of the results I saw and how my skin felt after.
When we left the grand opening event, we were give a swag bag filled with products based on our skin consultation. Two products that I am in love with is the Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque and Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I use the masque every couple of days by applying a thick layer and leaving it on for 5 minutes. I then tissue off the excess and let the remainder work its magic overnight. I wake up in the morning with a glowing, hydrated face. The formulation reduces the visible signs of pollution like tired, dull looking skin. The concentrate has a blend of essential oils to help restore your skin by the time you wake up. I have been using this every night – you know how facial oils are all the rage these days! There are many more products from more Kiehl’s I can talk about but it’s probably best that you check out the new Kiehl’s Eaton Centre and see for yourself. Speak to one of the skin consultants and let them develop a skin care program for you. The best is the samples you get so you can try before you buy.
Are you a Kiehl’s fan too? Be sure to check out the Kiehl’s Eaton Centre store and let us know what you think!
