I was excited when I received the Givenchy Teint Couture Makeup to try since I’ve never tried their products before. We’re always on the search for the best foundation and makeup out there right? But is more expensive really better?
So, first off, can I say how BEAUTIFUL the packaging is for these products?!? As soon as these came in the mail I could see the draw to these Givenchy foundations even before testing the actual product. The jar of the liquid foundation is so elegant and the powder foundation compact has a nice weight to it.
Both the liquid ($59 on the Sephora website) and powder ($61 again on the Sephora website) forms claim to be long wearing.
I was sent “Elegant Beige #4” for both products which was a perfect match for me. This surprised me as I would have never chosen this colour of the Sephora site myself.
The liquid was very fluid-like and light and went on beautifully. I dabbed a bit on my face and blended out with a brush then went over it with a beauty blender.
It did not however give me the full coverage I wanted upon just one light application so I had to go over my “trouble” spots with more product. The good news is that this foundation is very easy to layer and while it didn’t give me as much coverage as my regular foundation of choice it did a decent job covering my scars.
It should be noted that I’m standing in front of my window and it happened to be a bright day so my skin is nicely diffused in this photo – haha! In reality you can still see my scars through the foundation.
The liquid foundation also dried very matte and with a beautiful finish. It felt very lightweight on the skin too and not heavy at all!
This is the beautiful powder foundation. Powder foundation will never give as much coverage as liquid in my opinion unless you are okay with really caking it on.
I did not take a photo of myself with just the powder foundation on as it really didn’t me coverage but it did nicely even out my skin tone so I think if you’re looking for light, matte coverage this is a good choice. This powder also goes on nicely on top of the liquid foundation to help set it. The pink part adds a really nice pretty soft glow all over.
Overall I love the finish of both the liquid foundation and the powder foundation however out of the two my pick would be the liquid. Is it worth the price? If you don’t have any scars to cover up I say yes! It’s beautiful, light weight and has a great finish. The price isn’t actually too far off what I pay for my
Jane Iredale BB cream (my daily foundation). I personally think it’s worth the price to pay to get as flawless a finish on your skin as possible. That’s not to say that there aren’t less expensive alternatives out there, however spending more money on foundation is not one of the things I feel guilty about.
What are you thoughts on budget friendly foundation verses their more expensive counter parts?
