Products Used
While the specific eyeshadow shades and lip products I used for each holiday makeup look vary, I used some basic products for all four. The following products were used in each of the looks:
- Mix Beauty Lab custom foundation ($65)
- Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer in Fair ($9.99)
- Marcelle Nano eyebrow liner in Blonde ($11.99)
- Makeup For Ever Artist Face Colour bronzer and blush ($29 each)
- Caryl Baker Visage Icelandic Glow Illuminating Stick ($29.50)
- Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara in Very Black ($13.99)
I used three different eyeshadow palettes for these holiday makeup looks: two palettes from Beautycounter and one from Caryl Baker Visage. Beautycounter’s Velvet Eyeshadow Palettes ($62) in Statement and Romantic each have eight shades in a mix of matte and satin finishes, plus one glitter shade. The formula is incredibly smooth, and the shades blend beautifully. Caryl Baker Visage’s Nordic Beauty Blushadow Quad in Cozy ($29.50) offers four luminous shades in shimmering cool rose tones. As an added bonus, these stunning eyeshadows can also be used as a blush!
Look #1: Colourful Party
This is a look that pairs well with a cocktail dress and a glass of bubbly. The unexpected blend of eyeshadow shades will draw people in, and the shimmer is perfect for an evening event. Using a nude lipliner and topping with a balm will protect your lips from that winter air and ground the look, while still allowing the focus to remain on your eyes.
Products used: Beautycounter Statement Velvet Eyeshadow Palette, Caryl Baker Visage Ultimate Lip Liner in Rescue Me ($19.50), WORLD Velvet lip balm ($7.99)
Get the look: Brush Bone all over the browbone as a base, then blend Nightfall into the crease. Add Mulberry on the lid, and, using a smaller brush, apply a sweep of Peacock to the lower lashline. To balance the look, apply Peacock to the inner corners of your eye as well.
Look #2: Date Night
The classic smoky eye is all about deep blacks, but this softer version is absolutely perfect for cuddling up beside a fire. Rich browns and grey create drama and dimension without being too harsh, and a warm lip gloss is the perfect finishing touch for this romantic holiday makeup look.
Products used: Beautycounter Romantic Velvet Eyeshadow Palette, Mix Beauty Lab custom lipgloss ($40)
Get the look: Brush Brûlée all over the browbone, then blend Truffle into the crease and towards the inner corner. Shade the inner section of the lower lashline with Truffle. Then wet your brush and pack Smolder onto the lid, ensuring even coverage throughout. Finish by blending Moto into the outer corners, exaggerating your eye shape and connecting with the lower lashline.
Look #3: Classic Holiday
This is what most people think of when they imagine a holiday makeup look. A bright white shimmer recalls the sparkling snow, while crisp black liner and a red lip never go out of style.
Products used: Beautycounter Romantic Velvet Eyeshadow Palette, Beautycounter Precision Liquid Eyeliner ($36), MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Cherry ($22)
Get the look: Create a base by applying Cameo all over lid and browbone. Wet your brush and apply a layer of Moondust over the lid. Emphasize your eye shape with some winged liner, and add a touch of Moondust in the inner corner of your eyes for extra sparkle.
Look #4: Frosted Peach
Nothing says ‘winter fun’ like rosy cheeks and bright eyes! The shimmer in these shades catches the light at every angle, and using them as blush in addition to eyeshadow creates a cohesive holiday makeup look in a snap. These are fabulous shadows to easily pump up your everyday makeup this winter. In fact, the Nordic Collection is one of my favourite CBV releases in years (and that’s saying something)!
Products used: CBV Nordic Collection Blushadow Quad in Cozy, CBV Nordic Collection Volumizing Lip Gloss in Lingonberry ($24)
Get the look: Blend all of the shades together and apply along cheekbones to create a delicate flushed look. Then move to the eyes: sweep the lightest shade along the browbone, and apply the light rose tone to the entire eyelid. Blend the deep rose shade from the outer corners towards the middle crease, and along lower lashline. Finish off with some winged liner.
