Ah BB Creams are still going strong! Just when I thought I had heard of them all there are more to test out! Since Ashley has had a lot of experience in testing BB Creams out (see her posts here, here, here and here) I asked her to test out the latest one from Garnier.
One of the very first posts I drafted on behalf of Toronto Beauty Reviews was about BB Cream – in fact, I titled it Battle of the BB Creams. I didn’t expect the response it would receive, nor did I expect how much interest it would garner. It even spawned off a couple of sister posts! Now, I’ve got a new BB Cream to show off to you guys. From the makers of the original mass market BB Cream for Canada, Garnier presents Skin Renewal Anti Aging BB Cream.
Product: Garnier Skin Renewal Anti-Aging BB Cream in Light / Medium (please note that the BB Cream pictured here can only currently be found on the UK website)
Price: $19.99 and up (depending on retail store)
Available: In Drugstores Across Canada including well.ca.
What It Claims: “…hybrid formula that offers advanced skincare, immediate skin perfecting coverage, tighter and firmer skin, evens tone, hydration for 24 hours…”
Garnier Statement:
“Over time the signs of aging and fatigue can leave their mark on skin in the form of wrinkles, loss of firmness, dull skin and dehydration. Most often it takes several different products such as serums, creams and concealers to treat and conceal the signs of anti-aging. Until now! Discover breakthrough Anti-Aging BB Cream technology that firms, rejuvenates, and treats skin all at once!”
Review: I do love BB Creams. I find their simplicity in the summer months to be absolute perfection. It’s incredibly hard to slather on heavy foundation when it’s 35 degrees outside – this is where BB Cream is key!
Garnier was the first brand to market BB Cream in a mass quantity to the drugstore market. Therefore, it’s natural that they would be the one of the first to evolution towards the next step of the BB Cream market – anti-aging.
This BB Cream is slightly denser then other BB Creams on the market. Not to say that it’s heavy, but it’s got a thickness to it that blends effortlessly. The second you blend this BB Cream into your skin, the ‘thick’ feeling goes away, and you’re left with a matted look. I found that it evened out my skin tone enough that I was happy, but supreme coverage against spots? Not going to happen here. BB Cream isn’t for coverage of your problem areas though, so don’t expect to be able to forego the concealer if you’re having an ‘off-week’ in the skin department.
This BB Cream also contains Mineral Pigments. These mineral pigments are supposed to aide against anti-aging. I haven’t seen a difference (other than the mattifying off my fine lines), but I suspect that it would take some time to notice.
Another thing to note about this BB Cream – Garnier BB Cream has a distinct smell to them. I can’t really describe it, it’s typical Garnier smell that all their products seem to have. It’s slightly floral. It’s not a negative thing, but I can see some people not enjoying it.
Overall: I enjoy it, and I like the fact that the BB Cream has anti-aging properties. I think I’ll use this one during the hot summer months.
Has anyone else tried out Garnier’s BB Creams? What did you think?
