Since I’m always testing out new products my everyday makeup tends to change every few months (or even every few weeks!) Only some of them make it into my everyday rotation – here are a few I’ve been loving lately.
Summer was really about pairing down and simplifying so here are some products that I loved for easy summer makeup + getting me out the door faster!
I’ve been obsessed with Pixi Beauty’s Crayon Combo pencils. From top to bottom we have “Softly Smoky”, “Super Natural” and “Wide Awake”. I have all three but I haven’t actually tried the Softly Smoky yet.
I use the “line” side of Super Natural which is a matte chocolate brown as a liner on my top and bottom lashes and use the “define” part as a shadow all over my lid up to my crease. It just gives a nice polished finish for everyday without looking overly done. I then use the “lighten” part of Wide Awake to line the inner rim of my eyes and the “brighten” side I use under the brows, in the corners of my eyes on my cupid’s bow.
For the cheeks I’ve been loving the Rockateur Blush from Benefit Cosmetics. Of course it gorgeous to look at but I’ll admit I was really hesitant about this blush since it looks so sparkly. This was great when I was young and in my 20’s but now I’m really weary of too much sparkle. I’m so glad I tried it out though because the blush it just beautiful! And there is very slight shimmer that actually shows up on the cheeks – it just kind of gives a soft glow. Of course I would recommend using a light hand to start – I don’t use the brush it comes with just my regular blush blush and it’s been working for me as an everyday blush.
Benefit is on a roll in my books! This gimme Brow brow gel has been great for quick brow grooming in the mornings. Just be sure to wipe the access gel off the brush before applying or your brows could be too dark for your liking!
As for mascara I’ve testing out a few so here is one I feel I’ve tested for long enough to talk about.
Mega Effect Mascara by Avon is probably unlike anything you’ve seen before! Instead of a traditional tube and wand the “wonderbrush” is a strange little invention.
It took me a while to get used to it. The handle pivots so you can choose which position is most comfortable. It actually “grips” my lashes and seems to coat them really well.
I don’t get a crazy amount of volume with this mascara but it’s a good everyday option and it didn’t smudge on me at all! I did notice when I washed it off I felt little fibres but there was no flaking throughout the day.
As I mentioned it might take a bit of getting used to but I found since it’s slightly curved and is essentially the length of your eye you can get most of your lashes at once (the tiny ones at the outer and inner corners were a bit trickier).
As for lipstick I’ve been in love with Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Gemma.
This lipstick glides on beautifully and has a nice peppermint flavour to it. So it really is more like a balm than a traditional lipstick but with intense colour.
Speaking of colour – the colour is a gorgeous bright pink/violet that I think will work well into the fall too. My only two issues with this lipstick is that the bullet is large so it makes precise application difficult and when it fades it fades into a brighter pink which, if I’m not careful can look like I just finished a plate of spaghetti!
Here’s how it looks on. I think it’s a really flattering colour and anyone can wear this!
So…that’s what’s been in my current rotation as of late. I’m sure as I’m typing this up I’ll already be testing new products and some may get replaced – oh beauty blogger problems!
Do you stick to the same beauty routine or are you always changing it up like me? What are you favourite products?
***Disclosure: all products except for mascara were sent to me for review consideration***
