As many of you know beautiful healthy skin is something I’m looking to achieve. In the beginning of the month I received a book to review called “The 8 Week Health Skin Diet“.
Karen Fischer is a nutritionist and an award winning author. In this book she speaks about her own unhealthy eating habits growing up and how it affected her health, the way she felt and of course her skin. When she learned the power of food she began to make the connection between food and health and has penned several books and specializes in treating patients with skin conditions.
Now, eating well for beauty is not a new concept. However in today’s fast paced world of convenience foods and irregular hours it can be difficult to eat healthily without a plan.
This book was full of really great tips and explanations as to why certain foods and lifestyle behaviour are important to adopt.
There are a ton of recipes in this book which I am looking forward to trying out but I will admit for a girl like me that really can’t be in the kitchen cooking for more than 30 minutes at a time it’s going to be a challenge to upkeep and will require a lot of up front planning.
The book is great in that it gives overall tips for health skin but the book is also broken down into skin condition sections. There is a section on eczema, acne, rosacea, psoriasis and more – but I’ll admit I only read up on the acne part!
There are many tips from taking a salt water bath to checking if you are deficient in certain vitamins. All these things are definitely worth looking into for me.
Next up for me will be making a list of items I should pick up and making a trip to the Health Food Grocery Store! Hopefully I can put these wonderful tips to good use and see some significant results.
The 8-Week Health Skin Diet is now available for $24.95 Canadian.
If you have any specific questions about the book or the recipes let me know in the comments!
