Hair is still long and vacation tan still pretty prominent 😉 ***
Let me start off by saying I’ve always been intrigued by consignment and vintage shopping but I don’t really have an “eye” for fabulous finds, or scoring that diamond in the rough so I find the whole process kind of intimidating.
The Junction is a neighborhood in Toronto which has unique and quirky boutiques. I’ll admit while I’m in that area a lot I usually don’t check out what the area has to offer. I saw a facebook update from my friend Dara (you know – of Dara Dot Designs) announcing exciting news that her items would be carried at a store called Mia Boutique. I quickly checked out the website and I was super excited.
I REALLY like that it is stated right on the website what brands you will find at the store and what brands you won’t find. Often when I think about shopping gently used clothing I wonder if I will have to sort though a bunch of generic items to find that one treasure.
A few days after learning about the boutique I decided to stop in. It was supposed to be just a really quick run, I was with my husband and we were just killing some time but look what I ended up finding.
The only “flaw” I can see with the fit is that this dress was made for a taller girl with a longer torso. The waist seam is awkward on me and if that seam was at my waist the dress would likely have a shorter hem too. I will probably just hide that seam with a pretty satin scarf as a belt or something. Any other suggestions?
Now my only problem is finding a place to wear this to 😛 Does someone want to invite me to a super fancy schmancy event so this pretty dress can get some wear time?
Pretty good find wouldn’t you say? Oh, yeah and the price? $125. Yup. I thought it was an AMAZING deal for a silk Nicole Miller dress (it will kill me if it isn’t a good deal however, so if I got ripped off, please don’t tell me!). I really don’t know much about designers and I couldn’t find this online anywhere so I have no clue what year it’s from or what the original retail value is.
Are you an expert consignment shopper? If so, please share your tips with me! This experience has definitely opened my eyes to a whole new world!
