Dubbed Skulls and Roses, it’s a perfect reflection of Ed Hardy’s infamous skull and roses brand. With their clothing and accessory line, Ed Hardy is becoming a household name in the fashion industry. Breaking out into the fragrance market is just next on their list of industries to dominate. Partnered with brand powerhouse Elizabeth Arden, Ed Hardy is marketing towards bold individuals, unafraid of themselves. I must say, with these two amazing fragrances and ingenious bottle design, I’m sure they will do just that.

Available: In Shopper’s Drug Mart as of October 2012; In Sears, Sephora, and Pharma Plus as of December 2012
Fragrance Notes: See below:
- Men Contains: “…An extraordinary encounter of fresh bergamot, spicy cardamom and hints of violet combine with a masculine floralcy of lavandin and geranium spiked with ozonic elements. Also dashed with sandalwood and moss to create a modern twist as musks leave a lasting impression”
- Women Contains: “…Sweet strawberries splashed with pink grapefruit, mingle with honeysuckle, magnolia, and daisy. Meanwhile, violet leaves are intricately woven in with mystery and intrigue. Caramel and vanilla leave their delicious mark as white musk trails off in the distance”
Packaging: The packaging is so unique. Ed Hardy has used its signature skull image and incorporated that into their packaging – the fragrance bottle is a skull! In order to get at the spray nozzle, you untwist the top part of the skull. Neat right? Definitely unique and a solid representation of their brand incorporated into their packaging. While some people may enjoy the sleek and elegance of fragrance bottles, a little variety never hurt.
Review: Since there is both men’s and women’s fragrances, I’ll split up my reviews below.

- Men’s: One of my favourite new scents of the upcoming season, hands down. To me, I smell a spicy musky scent, incorporated with some earth scents. Similarities to Abercrombie and Fitch’s cologne can be applied, yet this is more toned down and admittedly, preferable. The scent lasts for the long-term, just as always, don’t over do it with the application. I think the ‘muskiness’ of the scent is the main reason why it lasts so long. I can see this one being a best seller in the near future.

- Women’s: I can definitely smell of the fruitiness of the perfume in this one. The grapefruit, strawberries and hints of florals are very apparent here – and I like it. It reminds me of spring! I can’t say I can pick up on the vanilla extracts, but perhaps a more sophisticated nose can. I really enjoy the femininity of this fragrance – it’s light, it’s airy, it’s delicate, and it’s sweet. I’ve been wearing it the past couple days and I enjoy it! I find myself picking up on its notes during the day and loving it more.
Conclusion: Solid fragrances from Ed Hardy! Both fragrances compliment each other well. I can’t say I choose one over the other, but I do enjoy the men’s cologne immensely!
