I was really excited to attend the Express Canada fashion show on the last night of World Mastercard Fashion Week because Express is a really accessible brand that I think would be ideal for work, weekend and nights out on the town!
Express has been around for 30 years and has stores all over the US, Puerto Rico and most recently Canada! With 3 stores in the GTA already (Fairview mall, Square One and The Bramalea City Centre) it’s quite exciting to see a store will be opening at the Toronto Eaton Centre on November 21st!
I’ve been to a couple fashion shows before but nothing prepared me for the scale of event! First of all…whoever coined the phrase “fashionably late” is out of their mind. The show was to begin at 9pm and I got into the tent about 10 minutes to 9pm and the place was PACKED!!!!! I had to resort to sitting in the last row of seats at the top. Bad because my good camera broke and I was stuck taking photos with a crappy camera and my camera phone. But good because being short at least there were no heads in front of me blocking my view and I could actually stand up to take pictures without being in anyone else’s way 😉
I apologize for the quality of the photos; I’m not a photographer and obviously didn’t have my camera on the right settings so when the lights changed during the show it was difficult to get a clear shot.

A definite stand out look I noticed at the show was a lot of peplum! Tops and dresses – so peplum is definitely still in. I’ve been kind of resisting the trend as I assumed it was just that…a trend. But I guess I should give it shot now! Express definitely had a lot of items for me to choose from, that’s for sure.
I also noticed that there weren’t too many patterns. The colours featured were bright blues, pinks, reds and corals mixed with black, white and cream.

There were some floral patterns off set by black which I loved! I think it could be dressed down appropriately for work but easily converted for a night out with the girls 🙂

The men were a big hit with the audience LOL! Every time the guys came out the audience was cheering. I have to say the men’s suiting at Express was quite impressive!
A huge surprise (for me anyway) was when
Jessica Stam closed out the show! She walked out with a beautiful red “flapper” style pleated dress that is sure to sell out quickly!
There was also an after party held right after the fashion show. There was a great crowd there too and
Express Canada was generously giving away either a men’s shirt or a pair of ladies pants to each guest!

It was a great night and fabulous way to close World Mastercard Fashion Week 🙂 Huge thanks to
Ella Pretty for hanging out with me and her husband for helping me snap photos!
Thank you so much to
Express Canada for the opportunity to attend the fashion show and the after party, I had a blast!
