Hello readers! I’m really excited to tell you about a little “hidden gem” that I have discovered called Studio Kolore. Kara recently contacted me telling me about the studio and asked if I wanted to come in to check it out. But of course I did! Fairly new to the area Studio Kolore is still tweaking their website so be sure to call or drop in on them and ask any questions you may have.
As I said Studio Kolore is a “hidden gem” located in Etobicoke near The Queensway and Islington.
Kara greeted me and I could tell right away how passionate she was about the studio. Her specialty is extensions! She said when she was in high school she used to make wigs for her and her friends so they could have fun going out. Man I wish I knew her when I was in high school!!
Studio Kolore offers a number of different services. Salon services such as hair cuts and colour, manicures and pedicures, waxing services, massages, facials, make up application, laser services and eye lash extensions…phew! You could literally spend all day here!!!
And the studio itself is gorgeous. Kara took me on a tour of the relaxing and unpretentious space – espresso bar included!
She also took me through all the different types of hair extensions and processes. I was a bit overwhelmed, I didn’t know there were so many!!! From clips to a technique called Malaysian weaving there seems to be a technique for every need.
Kara was so patient with me explaining everything and answering all my questions since I came in knowing absolutely NOTHING about extensions. All the hair at Studio Kolore is real! The hair is processed according to which application it will be used for and it’s even straighten or curled as needed! Blondes unfortunately will have to pay more since so much goes into processing the hair to match their golden locks.
Kara asked if I wanted to try some out – I’ll admit I was hesitant. I don’t know anything about extensions but I have heard horror stories about how it ruins your hair or can damage your scalp. Kara assured me that as long as they are put in and taken out properly there is no damage done to the hair. I fully trusted Kara since she has gone through years of training and has actually been making wigs and applying extensions for over 10 years!
I wanted to go for something really funky so these are the extensions I got put in:
These are called seamless tape extensions – they were so easy to apply – in fact Kara applied them so quickly I didn’t even realize she was finished! They are fairly durable and for some people can last months. You can swim, shower, shampoo and style these extensions – which for me is great – the extensions are straight with a slight wave at the end so I simply curl them to blend in with my hair. They are made of 100% Remy Human Hair and are great for peak a boo highlights or fullness in the hair!
It’s only been a couple days so I’ll update you on how I’m liking the extensions in a few weeks. We’ll also see how long it takes me to get bored with pink highlights
Once again, Studio Kolore is located at 935 The Queensway in Etobicoke.

Too bad they ripped me and two of my co-workers off.
A solicitor came to our office selling a spa services package, which included “Glamorous Hair, Perfect Manicure, Fabulous Feet, and Fresh Face”, on the assumption of New Management Grand Re-opening, on August 30, 2012. This package was valid for six months and expired in March 2013. I, along with two co-workers, bought the package (my co-workers purchased it package as gifts for their wives).
It is now October 4, and all three of us have been unable to schedule an appointment. First, Kolore wasn’t returning phone calls. Then Kolore’s mailbox was full, so you couldn’t even leave a message if you wanted to.
I drove by today (October 4, 2012) to find out what was going on only to encounter a construction crew re-building the space. I was able to get the landlord information from another tenant (retail) in the building. She mentioned to me that she had quite a few people coming into her space to complain about the exact same issue. She even went so far as to call the situation a scam.
I contacted the landlord and was told that Kolore packed up their belongings in the middle of the night and vacated the space without so much as a notice to the landlord. Unfortunately, he was unable to give me forwarding or contact info for legal reasons.
I have contacted Kolore through Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Studio-Kolore-hairspa/129106750464441) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/StudioKolore) and have yet to receive a response. I have no other phone numbers that I could call. My debit receipt shows SPRING MARKETING, 70 Cambridge Ave., Apt 723, Toronto, ON M4K 2L5. I have not been able to find a phone number, as well as a website, for Spring Marketing.
I’m not impressed and am doing everything in my powre to get our money back.
They look amazing! I wish i had this service! Not impressed with the spa side of this company, but the hair side looks interesting!
i think they looked great. and it matches the headband you bought
I love it!! Definitely want to hear how you like it as time goes by – I’m always so impressed how extensions can blend in so seamlessly.
The extensions look great!
Those hot pink extensions are really funky and unexpected! Very cool! Thanks for sharing this!
Hey Elaine, I love reviews of local places like this one! I love the pink hair extensions on you, it’s unexpected but is so funky, in a subtle way. I will definitely mention this place to anyone I know who is looking to get hair extensions. Thanks so much for the post
those pink extensions totally suit you! love your dress too.
Hi Doll…ok I am back! That was a good question and no it does not hurt to sit in that dress because it is fully lined
You should give it a try
I have never had extensions but I love the pink!! Hehehe
Is that your natural hair color Elaine? I love it…it’s the perfect shade of brown!
@questforfashionsense.com I totally recommend it. It’s expensive but less of a commitment than highlights and technically will last longer if you get the kind can be reused.
@Jen Thanks Jen
Twitter tutorial – I’m up for that LOL!
@Leesh Tweeted you but yes this is how I felt too! I’ve always wanted funky coloured highlights but hairdressers have told me that they would have to bleach my hair to get the vibrant colour and it would be a pain to maintain. Extensions are the way to go!
@meredith Heee I know you are, do you still have the pink tips going on?
@Nelah makeover, you? No need!
@B.Inspired You are RIGHT, I look a little too conservative right now to pull those off huh? Perhaps I’ll try some crazy makeup this weekend
This is fabulous! I have been looking for a hair studio that does extensions!
too bad I wont be there this weekend in T dot.
So cool and the look is so fun! I need your tips on tweeting
Your so good and I’m behind on the times with tweeting, reading your tweets today and I can’t keep up!
Thanks for your nice comments and look forward to your feedback on the jewels.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Jen
Those extensions look great! I would love to try that some time.
Pretty awesome Miss Elaine!!! Quite rocker edgy chic and now I gotta see some glam rock make-up to go with this new hairstyle!!! What a fabulous salon!
Love your pink hair, Elaine. Gosh I haven’t been to salon in ages!!!! I need a head to toe makeover, that is for sure.
I am a huge fan of pink -thumbs up!!
I think I’d like to try a bright extension in my hair. My hair is so boring right now but I’m too scared to change it. The extensions would be less of a commitment.
@Sweet Laundry oooh yes tell your friend to check it out! Kara actually mentioned that she has a lot of clients come in to “fix” extensions that were put in themselves – she doesn’t advocate that LOL!
Kalore sounds like a great hair salon. It’s a bit far for me, but I have a friend that lives at Bloor and Islington so I’m definitely going to tell her about this. She tried to put in extensions herself once and it didn’t go so well
I love that you went with pink highlights! I think it looks great nestled amongs your curls. It’s more subtle that way.
