I recently asked Alysia to attend an event on my behalf – the event was definitely a creative one hosted by John Frieda and from the sounds of it she had a blast!

A few weeks ago, I went to Mixology 101 hosted by John Frieda®. The entire concept of the event was brilliant. It was held at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse and we were greeted with a lab coat and geek chic glasses that were ours to keep.
We were treated to cocktails, wine and delicious finger foods while surrounded by the entire line of John Freida® products. Mingling among beauty bloggers and a bunch of very friendly and knowledgeable John Freida® staff was a highlight too!
After we chatted, we entered another room outfitted with old school wooden benches, along with a notebook, pencil and an apple. The crash course was taught by John Frieda® Canadian Creative Consultant, Alain Larivée. He demonstrated on models the hair issues most women have mainly flat, limp hair and curly, frizzy hair. He then walked us through what we all came to see at this event: their new Stylist Selections Hair Tool. Available both online and through mobile phones, this tool helps women identify their hair needs; either before going into a drugstore or on their mobile phones while in-store. It offers you a personalized “cocktail blend” of product mixtures to help achieve the look you want. At the end of the night while we were treated to some desserts (peanut butter ice sandwiches and rice krispies squares), we each got to test out the hair tool on the iPad. The results were exactly for my hair type. And the best part…I got all those products in my swag bag – which was a Herschel backpack (very fitting with the school theme).
I have been using all the volumizing products – Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner for Colour-Treated Hair, All-Day Hold Hairspray, Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray and Volume Refresh Dry Shampoo – and it’s definitely adding oomph to my flat hair.
I can’t express enough how much I loved the concept of the event and what we learned with Alain. The key points I took home with me were:
- combining products is best to achieve a certain look, i.e. anti-frizz and a voluminizer – adding volume yet taming flyaways and
- when using hair spray, there is no need to hold it close, it’s better to hold it 25-30 cm away for maximum coverage.
The swag bag was amazing and the staff – well I haven’t met a more friendlier and beautiful team. If you have some time, I suggest trying out the Stylist Selection Hair Tool to see what John Frieda® recommends for your hair type.
Do you often combine hair styling products for the best results?
