I’m am seriously one lucky girl! I’ve been privileged to win numerous giveaways, the latest coming from one of my favorite Fashion blogs The Backseat Stylers. This time it was a Dermalogica prize back! The giveaway was posted here.
I have to say I was a bit worried about this one – usually I use moisturizers with sunscreens in them already because straight sunscreens are usually really kind of thick and heavy. Since I have oily skin I’m always worried about heavy lotions clogging up my pores and aggravating my skin. I’m really pleased this was not the case!
So I used this on my face alone – I didn’t bother mixing it with any moisturizer or with my foundation and if felt very comfortable on my oily skin.
I’ve actually been using this product daily and loving it so far!
Next up are the Solar Defense Wipes – they essentially look like baby wipes but are soaked in sun block ingredients.
Ummm…I have to admit. I was pretty skeptical about these. I usually apply my sunscreen in a cream form since the one I use doubles as my moisturizer. The first time I went to use it I hesitated – I was confused because I had just applied body lotion (no SPF) and I was thinking that the wipes would wipe my lotion off. So I saved them for the next day. The next day came and I was thinking “how can I just use these wipes and no lotion – my skin will be dry” but I decided to try them out anyway.
The very first thing I noticed was that I did smell alcohol – not super strong but it was apparent.
The second thing I noticed was that wipes felt like they had lotion or oil on it – so there was definitely product there!
Then I started using the wipes. The alcohol smell dissipated quickly and a bit of a film was left on my skin which I just used the wipe to rub into my skin.
So…I am quite impressed with these wipes! My skin actually felt REALLY soft afterwards and there was no oily or sticky residue. Actually I felt like these left a nice sheen to my skin especially on my arms. I did have to wipe the palms of my hands with a tissue – I’m thinking that a lot of the product got tranferred to my hands since I was holding the wipes and re-positioning them. In hindsight I should have just used the excess product from my hands on my neck and ears!
The smell was nice too – smelled kind of fruity but not overwhelming and not like “fake” or “candy” fruit, like real fruit – apples came to mind right away but I’m thinking that maybe it’s the grape extract?
I think these wipes are PERFECT for throwing into your bag when you’re out on the go – you can reapply so easily! One wipe easily covered my legs and my arms – I only used them on exposed areas but I think I could have easily used one on most of my body (please remember, I’m a petite and therefore have short arms and legs – so I might have less skin to cover than a lot of people )
My ONLY issue with these is that there are only 15 wipes in the pouch so you will likely go through these really fast.
So I’m super impressed with the Daily Defense items I was able to try courtesy of The Backseat Stylers giveway Thanks so much Sharon!
Have you tried out any Dermalogica products? What’s your favorite sunscreen?
It’s a good sunscreen to try apart from all other products out there.
brilliant – I was looking into LRP Antihelios, but this looks good too! Congrats on your win
Thank you for the review! I have a problem with a lot of sunscreens too….I need to try these out
Congrats! but I’ve never heard of them. I dislike the sunscreens too.. too thick and hard to blend into the skin.. but cant do without them!
Congrats!
YAY for winning! Never heard of this brand but it looks pretty promising!
Congrats!!
Oo! I’ve been thinking about Dermalogica for a while now. I think with you reviews, I may take the leap soon.
What an amazing win! I just use Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen but it smells yummy!
You have such nice skin! I find these sunscreen wipes very interesting. Using sunblock is so important, but it’s hard to find something that leaves a thick or oily residue on the skin. Do you know how much a pack of wipes costs?
I think I’d really like sunscreen wipes. I love that they’re portable and like you mentioned you can just toss into a bag, whereas I’m super wary of putting bottles of lotion in my bag because I’ve had many things explode.
You seem to be having lots of luck with blog giveaways! This is why I love blog giveaways. The chances of winning are so much better than say, “sweepstakes” – does anyone ever really win those?
@CallandraThanks Callandra! Love giveaways
@Make Mommy ChicWOW SPF 50 – is it chalky at all? I haven’t tried anything Kiehl’s – you should take me one day LOL! And yes, love that the wipes won’t spill in your purse!
@FASHION ICEAs I said, I’m pretty impressed!
@Sharon (The Backseat Stylers) Thank YOU Sharon! I love winning stuff (LOL!) and especially stuff I can use – thank you for hosting and supporting me
@PetiteLittleGirl I actually just came from an event at their training centre – I had heard of them but didn’t know too much – but I am seriously loving so many of their products!
looks like a great product!
Congrats Elaine! The wipes do seem interesting, if anything, they won’t spill in your purse. I currently use Kiehl’s SPF 50 for face and also their creme de corps lotion with SPF 30 (currently not available in Canada- boo). Glad to know that your skin will be well protected this summer. Thanks for the post
Oooh Congratulations Elaine!
Congrats on winning, Elaine! That’s so awesome. I have never used or heard of this brand before but sounds very interesting.
YAY!!! I’m so glad you like the products Elaine! Thanks for writing up such a detailed review and for the link love – much appreciated! <3
Enjoy!
