I’ve been extremely busy with work for the last two months or so. When my schedule is all over the place like it has been recently, the last thing that gets my attention is my hair. Even when I have all the time in the world, I tend to be low-maintenance when it comes to my hair. I wash, towel-dry, put a drop of oil or styling cream, blow-dry for about 2-3 minutes so that my hair is not dripping wet, and I’m out the door.
Even if a simple routine like this usually works okay, you know that you need to change it up a bit when you end up putting your hair in a bun all the time because it’s just unmanageable otherwise. I usually get my hair trimmed every three months or so, but I haven’t had a haircut since April… That’s 7 months! I’m definitely long overdue for a haircut, which obviously contributes to making my hair feel like a big frizzy mess with split ends and tangles everywhere.
These new products from PHYTO’s Phytokératine Extreme range came to my rescue at the perfect timing. Launched in October 2015, the line is designed to repair ultra-dry, damaged, and brittle hair.
The range consists of three 100% sulfate, silicone, and paraben-free products:
PHYTO Phytokératine Extreme Exceptional Shampoo ($30)
PHYTO Phytokératine Extreme Exceptional Mask ($54)
PHYTO Phytokératine Extreme Exceptional Cream ($38)
These reparative products are charged with nutrient-rich plant oils and butters such as baobab oil and sapote butter, which are known for their regenerative properties. The amount of omega-6 fatty acids in sapote butter is known to be twice that of shea butter, making it an excellent ingredient for deeply nourishing, conditioning, and softening your dry, lackluster strands. Another star ingredient is botanical keratin, which consists of 18 plant-derived amino acids. Through PHYTO’s special bio-mimicry technology, botanical keratin is delivered to areas where natural keratin is absent or damaged in order to rebuild and strengthen hair.
I’ve used these products three times so far and have already noticed a significant improvement. After the first use, the dry ends became softer, and my hair felt and looked moisturized. After three uses, my hair has become noticeably less tangled and much more manageable. It feels healthier and more nourished overall.
My favourite product from this range is the mask. My hair is very thick and coarse, so I usually leave the mask on for a little over five minutes. What I really love about this product is that it does not weigh down my hair unlike other thick cream masks I’ve tried. It just leaves my hair feeling healthier, smoother, and hydrated. I was impressed with the result after the very first use. I think that this product is an amazing weekly treatment for dry, damaged hair that needs some TLC.
I’ve been quite impressed with the Exceptional Shampoo as well. Even though it’s completely sulfate-free, it foams up very nicely and makes my hair feel clean and supple without irritating or drying out my scalp.
The Exceptional Cream effectively tames my frizzy hair, and I find that it helps define my curls too. This lightweight, fast-absorbing cream is also formulated to provide protection against heat, so it’s perfect for those who are concerned with heat damage. It’s a multifunctional product designed to act as a finishing product, anti-frizz hair care, thermo-protectant, and UV protectant. I really like that it’s free of silicone unlike many other hair styling products on the market.
I’d definitely purchase these products and highly recommend them to those of you who are looking for reparative, deep-conditioning products that deliver results.
