Today I am going to talk about my summer hair experience. Last year at this time I cut it to my shoulders, a decision I quickly regretted as I didn’t have that soft, manageable hair that looks good with the short cuts. My hair is coarse, thick and heavy. A year later, my hair has grown quite a bit and I’m loving pampering it with the shu uemura nourishing cleansing milk with camellia oil!

Some highlights of the shu uemura nourishing cleansing milk with camellia oil:
- Smells fantastic
- Non-greasy
- Nourishing
- Moisturizing
- Only takes a couple of minutes
- No sulfates or silicones
Long before I began to write for Toronto Beauty Reviews, I used to have a subscription with a popular beauty subscription box. I remember receiving a small sample of one of shu uemura’s products, made with camellia oil. I used it all up very quickly and adored the smell and how it made my hair feel. It’s been a few years, and as I was sorting through my bathroom cupboards a couple of weeks ago I found the packaging from that same sample that I had been keeping, so that I could remember the product and purchase it at some point.
Coincidentally, this week I received a tube of the shu uemura nourishing cleansing milk with camellia oil in my beauty mail! I daresay I wasted no time and instantly washed my hair and evenly coated it with this product throughout. I waited a couple of minutes (they say to even leave it for 5-10 for even more dramatic results) and then I rinsed it out. My hair was silky smooth, smelling fantastic and I was in my heavenly zone.
How To Use:
As usual I wrapped my hair in a towel and left it to air dry. The next morning I found my hair so shiny and nourished. I would have to confess that this product is one of my favourite hair products of all time — it really just works for me! It protects from dryness, frizz and UV damage.
In case you have never heard of camellia oil, here’s a little background. The oil itself, extracted from the seeds of the plant was used by geishas for years and the flower symbolizes feminine beauty. It acts as a deeply nourishing moisturizer without being heavy or greasy.
I cannot describe the scent to you, you really have to try it for yourself. It is simply divine and not overpowering. If I could find a candle this scent I would buy it! Another product I love to use just before I leave the house and plan on using it today prior to being the subject matter of a mini photo shoot is Deciem’s Grow Gorgeous end split ends leave-in serum. I talked about it last spring on the blog and still use it/love it.
Is It Worth It?
Yes, shu uemura products are on the pricier side when it comes to hair products but your tresses are something worth investing in. If you want to see this nourishing cleansing milk works for you, try visiting your local Sephora and requesting a sample of it to try once or twice. The size is quite generous (250 ml) and you only need a small amount with each application. It can be purchased on shu ueumura’s U.S. website for $58 USD. Goodbye dryness, hello healthy, shiny summer hair!
